Large Munsterlander

Large Munsterlander

Most people now believe the Large Munsterlander has its origins in a very old breed known as the German Longhair. Originally bred for hunting in the Munsterland region of North West Germany, but those with good colouring were eventually breed to form the current breed. The Munsterlander Breed Club was formed in 1919.

Like many Germany breeds, number of these dogs depleted rapidly until the intervention of Herr Egon Vornholt, under whose guidance the breed prospered.

These dogs are energetic and make good all-round gundogs. They have excellent scent detection on both land and water. As well as being loyal to their owners, they are also affectionate and trustworthy.
