Bred for hunting rabbits, birds and other game in the undergrowth and getting them to run or fly. The breed has been traced to Wales in the 18th century where it was used by falconers and later as a gundog.
These dogs make good companions but need plenty of stimulation. They can be prone to barking when bored and need plenty of exercise and obedience training.
